Today is release day for my brand new solo album, Manifesto.
Listen here:
Celebrating 40 Years of Bass Playing, the new album is one of four that I’ve recorded this summer, in one of the most creative periods of my entire music life.
As has been my recording approach for 27 years, everything here is live, improvised, a single take with no overdubs. See the video below for a glimpse into how I play bass, piano and synth at the same time, looping and processing them in real time:
Tuesday 4th August is the first of a series of listening parties for the album, at 8.30pm UK Time – see the album page on Bandcamp for details.
I hope you can find the time to listen – getting the word out about niche music, especially music that isn’t built on 10 seconds of WOW, is getting harder and harder, as so much of our information comes through algorithms that have no interest in us listening to the same thing for an hour without being able to serve as adverts during it. To be able to continue to make music for patient listening is a joy but brings with is serious challenges regarding discovery.
So please do tell your friends, and join us for the listening party.
You can read the sleeve notes in the release announcement post here.
