Rise on the radio

Rise Kagona and Doug Veitch on BBC Radio Scotland’s ‘Celtic Connections’ show – I’m SOOO looking forward to this gig! Rise and Doug sound great with just two guitars and percussion, so it’ll be great to hear what we manage to do with added bass, keys and drums.

Today is learning the songs day – there are some seriously tricky bass-parts, and this is going to take some work!

Newly rediscovered, this article where @michael_ma Newly rediscovered, this article where @michael_manring & I interviewed each other for #BassGuitarMagazine in 2002. Such an amazing trip down memory lane to re-read this and consider how defining those early conversations with Michael were for me in establishing what it was I was trying to do and to me feeling OK about playing solo bass at a time when it was a monumentally weird thing to do 🙂🙂
Big thanks to @mikebrooks_uk for the scan of the article!

Are you a "take all the strings off and clean the whole bass" person, or a "change em one at a time, who the hell has time for cleaning?" kind of person? 🙂
