I think blogged about this album when the first few tracks became available, but ‘Jesus Is For Losers‘ by Calamateur is now finished, all the tracks are up, along with artwork, at www.jesusisforlosers.co.uk

Interview with me on BBC Radio 5 Live
March 10th, 2009 · 2 Comments
Last Thursday I went over to BBC TV Centre to be interviewed for BBC Radio 5 Live’s Pods And Blogs. It’s a segment in the overnight show on a Monday, I think, but for those of us who aren’t nocturnal, it’s also a rather excellent stand alone podcast. I’ve been listening to it for months, and Jamillah Knowles does a great job of rounding up what’s happening in webland in a 25 minute show.

Rejoining Emusic’s subscription download service.
March 8th, 2009 · 2 Comments
I just started my subscription to Emusic again. Emusic is one of the biggest site for indie music download sales, and works on a subscription model, so you pay for a certain number of tracks a month. I get 50 tracks for £11.99, I think.

Jonatha Brooke playing the UK this week.
February 23rd, 2009 · No Comments
Quick post before a proper blog update later on.
One of my favouritest singer/songwriters in the whole world is playing in London this week. If you’ve been reading this blog for more than a few months, you’ll have heard me go on about Jonatha Brooke before. She’s an outstanding singer, songwriter, guitarist, story-teller, performer. All round marvellous. And she’s in the UK at the moment:

Andrew Dubber on Why All Musicians Need a Blog
April 14th, 2008 · No Comments
Andrew Dubber over at New Music Strategies has just posted a fantastic blog post - Do I Really Have To Blog?.
His answer (initially, ‘yes of course’ but much longer and in detail) is just about the best list of reasons I’ve ever read for musicians blogging.
I’ll add just one thing to it - a [...]

Thanks so much for all the comments and feedback about the first Managing Information Streams post. Some GREAT stuff in the comments there.
I want to follow that up with what is fast becoming my favourite web-filter, and will hopefully become my primary interface with my network - Twitter.
The tech media has been full of articles [...]

Managing information streams (Pt 1)
March 7th, 2008 · 7 Comments
This will (I think) be the first in a series of posts about this, mainly because it’s an ongoing struggle and area of conceptual development.
So, I’ll start by saying where my problem lies - a lot of the stuff online about being overwhelmed by email starts by talking about spam. Apart from when I’ve had [...]

the ecosystem is wrong… why facebook for music still doesn’t beat Myspace…
March 1st, 2008 · 3 Comments
Jeff Schmidt just linked to this article via his Google Shared Items (find them in the side bar on his blog and grab the RSS feed) -
Facebook Music Rocks, in which the author waxes lyrical about how functional the Facebook music pages are. Which is true, they are, functionally, kicking the ass of MySpace, with [...]
