Illuminated Loops – after we debuted this project last year, we were inundated with people interested to see it and find out more about it.

Poppy Porter is a visual artist and jeweller. She is synaesthetic meaning she has a visual response to sound, particularly music – she then captures what she sees on paper and in 3D in her extraordinary art-jewellery creations.

In this project, I improvise, she reacts to what she sees in my music, and then I in turn respond to the visuals as a ‘graphic score’. This evolve and change in fascinating and beautiful ways, with some really surprising music and a chance for the audience to see the interaction merge and change before their eyes. Not to be missed!

This’ll be a really special night, celebrating the wealth of bass talent we have around here – definitely not one to be missed. This is the first in a series of shows like this, so don’t miss this debut show!

14/05/17 Steve Lawson/Mike Outram/Emre Ramazanoglu Birmingham, West Midlands Tower Of Song United Kingdom
Time: 7:00pm. Admission: £8. Age restrictions: All Ages/Licensed. Address: 107 Pershore Road South. Venue phone: 0121 486 1300.

Rare performance by this most brilliant of trios – I’m really excited about this one:

Mike Outram – guitar – He has toured internationally with Herbie Mann, Carleen Anderson, Tim Garland and Theo Travis; recorded with Steven Wilson, Laura Rossi and Robert Fripp, and is Guitar Professor at The Royal Academy, Guildhall, and TrinityLaban, London. He’s also the founder of the online guitar academy ElectricCampfire.com

Emre Ramazanoglu – drums/electronics – has played with a massive array of artists, from Beardyman to Duffy, Sneaker Pimps to Keith Tippett. He’s engineered for Noel Gallagher, and co-written songs for Sia. Suffice to say, he has his fingers in pretty much ever sphere of contemporary music, and draws on all of that experience in his playing.

and me :)

      Hi Kevin,

I’m not going to be back there any time all that soon… probably will next time Michael Manring comes over cos it worked great for us there… Wasn’t the right venue for what I had planned for the monthly thing…

  • Nebraskan

Are you coming back to Nebraska any time soon?

    • Steve

nothing planned at the moment, sadly, but I’m sure we’ll be back in Wisner at some point – we have good friends there :)

  • Slummy9

What USA cities will you be making appearances at and when?

    • Steve

Hey, we’re just coming to the end of our tour – it wasn’t widely promoted as it was the first time we’ve done this many shows with our 7 month old son, so didn’t want to have an over-full tour that we needed to cancel if he really hadn’t been into it…

We’re in Cincinnati on July 6th, then have a private concert in Pittsburgh on the 9th, and then we’re back to England.

    Steve … ,

A concert in The Netherlands would be a dream come true. The Bimhuis in Amsterdam would be a great place for you to play … ! I could even help with contacting them or any Dutch language related things.

    Love your music,

    Martin
