10 11 things you really ought to know about Steve Lawson
- 1. Steve is the only solo electric bassist to ever do a whole set at the Royal Albert Hall (as far as we can tell!)
- 2. Steve has twice performed live improvised soundtracks to silent films in Italy - the first time, the subtitles were in Italian too, so he had no idea at all what was happening on screen!!
- 3. He has made 9 visits to California, playing shows in and around the NAMM show representing Modulus Guitars, AccuGroove Amplification, Looperlative Audio Products and others, as well as playing solo shows at, amongst other venues, The Knitting Factory in La, The Rio Theatre in Santa Cruz, The Little Fox in Redwood City and Cafe Du Nord in San Francisco.
- 4. Bass Day events he has appeared at - UK Bass Day, NAMM BassQuake (6 years running!), European Bass Day (Germany), Euro Bass Day (Italy), Detroit Bass Fest (USA), Bass Day LA (USA)...
- 5. In 2002 Steve opened for Level 42 on their Greatest Hits tour round the UK, and in the same year opened for King Crimson original members, the 21st Century Schizoid Band.
- 6. Steve has been running his own record label since 2000, and has released 10 albums - 6 full releases (four solo, two duo) and 4 limited edition CDs, now available as downloads from his online shop.
