I promised my 11-year-old nephew I would do this with him this year but totally forgot. He, of course, is well over 6,000 words already. Well, there’s always next year!

I’ve decided to join in with this all, but only for a week (NaNoWriWe?), maybe next year i’ll thrash out a novel.

I bet you’ll finish. You’ve been disciplined enough to master your instrument. You can use that same discipline to knock out 1700 words a day for a month. The beauty of NaNoWrimo is that it doesn’t have to be good. Just get to 50,000 words. It is a very gratifying experience that will fuel your other creative work.

fortunately, its nearly all dialogue so far, and will, judging by the shape of it, continue to be so. Just jumped in, started writing, and this is the format the emerged.

I’m also putting together a small list of people who are reading it as I go along, which is helping immensely

much fun… and soon, I think the bass player in the band might end up joining the drummer on twitter…

hey dude, awesome to hear you’re doing nanowrimo, unfortunately i can’t do it this year, literally don’t have a spare second in between organising the novel launch project thing, but i had super fun doing it last year. Created a horror / sci-fi epic of ghosts vs vampires vs zombies vs ‘ghost marines’ vs a giant purpose bread killing machine called ‘Tokyo Collider’, it’s seriously awesome!

anyway, have fun with it, and a quick tip, dialogue is best for getting the word count up without having to think too much

that’s what I like to hear! I’m hoping the take-aways from this aren’t just ‘can I write novels or not?’, but are much more integrated with the rest of the art/creative stuff that I do. We’ll see. I might give up in three days

thanks Andy! I’m having fun so far, even though ‘so far’ just means ‘typing for about 3 hours’.

Cool Steve! Good luck with NaNoWriMo. If it helps to motivate you, I’m not a writer at all and I wrote the required 50,000 words in both 2006 and 2007. My novels stink, but I think that it enabled me to see the link between music and literature, which eventually led to me doing my Sci-Fi Songs.
